One of the greatest barriers that LGBTQ+ people experience in accessing mental health care
is anticipation and experiences of discrimination.
There is a clear need to provide tailored, culturally appropriate, and affirmative
interventions to LGBTQ+ individuals.
Clients often find that a provider’s lack of knowledge about diverse sexual and gender identities
leaves them with the inappropriate burden of educating the behavioral health provider.
